Meet the Tutor Behind Talk Spanish Now

I’m Marcos Soto, a Colombian Spanish tutor passionate about languages, a Systems Engineer by profession, and a teacher by vocation. Besides Spanish, I can communicate in English and Portuguese, and I’m currently learning Japanese.

After years of learning through traditional methods, my perspective on language learning changed completely while I was living in Brazil pursuing my postgraduate degree. The challenge of needing Portuguese in my daily life and academic environment made me realize that the most effective way to learn languages is through immersion in real-life situations, ideally with the support of native speakers. I believe listening and speaking are the most crucial skills; grammar should be integrated gradually and in small doses.

That’s why I created Talk Spanish Now: to offer personalized Spanish conversation lessons where you can learn in a practical and immersive environment. My goal is to help you take meaningful steps toward your dream of confidently speaking Spanish.

We offer personalized, 1-on-1 Spanish conversation lessons with a native speaker. We have different lesson types (Basic, Standard, Premium) that vary in duration and features.

 

We also offer discounted lesson packages, ideal for learners who want consistency and continuity in their learning process.

 

Go to Book a Lesson to select your single lesson or package. Choose your preferred date and time, and you will be redirected to checkout to make your payment and finalize your booking.

Our lessons are primarily focused on developing Speaking and Listening skills, conducted through real Spanish conversation, which we at Talk Spanish Now consider the most essential skills for effective language learning.

 

However, we can also tailor them to work on specific skills requested by the student (such as Pronunciation or Grammar), specific topics (e.g., Presentations, Job Interviews, Spanish for Tourism), or by using materials in a more academic format, depending on the features of the chosen plan.

 

Our methodology is entirely practical, as we believe this is the best way to master a language. From the very beginning, we put everything into practice, while we consider grammar necessary, we believe it should be delivered in small doses. Our goal is for students to learn in a fun and engaging way, therefore, our focus is not on abstract grammar, but on learning through real and meaningful spanish conversation.

Yes! If you prefer learning alongside others, we offer Group Lessons and Workshops designed for a collaborative and dynamic experience.

 

To ensure an interactive environment where everyone has ample time to speak and receive personalized feedback, these sessions are limited to a maximum of 3 students per group.

 

These sessions are the perfect space to practice Spanish conversation naturally, build confidence, and learn from your peers’ experiences. Since these are scheduled on specific dates, you can find all available sessions and book your spot directly in our Events section.

Yes! We offer two ways for you to get started:

  • Trial Lesson: You can book one 30-minute trial lesson at a special introductory price. During this session, the tutor will introduce themselves, present the methodologies used, and provide a brief demonstration of what the lessons will be like. To book, go to the Book a Lesson section, select “Trial Lesson” and complete the booking steps (or simply click here to Book a Trial Lesson).
  • Free Group Lesson: We also offer a completely free group lesson called “Welcome to Talk Spanish Now” for new students. This is a great way to experience our methodology alongside others. Visit the Events section to check availability and book your spot.

Lessons are primarily conducted in Spanish to promote immersion. However, English (or any of the other languages mastered by the tutor) can be used for detailed explanations and support whenever helpful. This means the Spanish lessons are ideally designed for A2 to B2 level learners—those who already have basic foundational knowledge—or anyone who can communicate in English for support.

 

This approach is flexible and will depend entirely on the student’s current knowledge and preferences, as well as the type of lesson. The native Spanish tutor has a conversational level of English, Portuguese, and a basic level of Japanese.

We use Google Meet for our lessons due to its accessibility and reliability.

Our packages are designed for maximum results through a consistent learning rhythm. While we recommend a steady weekly schedule, you have full flexibility to book and complete your lessons within the following timeframes:

  • Essential Package (4 lessons): Valid for 1 month from the date of purchase. Ideal for a steady pace of 1 lesson per week.
  • Extended Package (8 lessons): Valid for 2 months from the date of purchase. Perfect for learners aiming for high intensity or accelerated progress with 1 or 2 lessons per week.

Note: All lessons within a package must be booked and completed within their validity period. Unused lessons or credits will expire at the end of this timeframe and cannot be refunded, extended, or credited.

We understand that plans can change. Rescheduling policies depend on your booking type:

  • Single Lessons, Basic & Standard Packages: You can reschedule your lesson at no additional cost directly through your account, provided you do so at least 12 hours before the scheduled time and within the respective expiration period (1 month for Single Lessons & Essential Packages, 2 months for Extended Packages).

  • Premium Packages: Since Premium packages include a guaranteed recurring weekly schedule reserved specifically for you, any rescheduling request must be made at least 12 hours in advance by contacting support to coordinate adjustments, subject to the tutor’s availability.

Note on Emergencies: In exceptional cases (e.g., severe emergencies or force majeure), please notify us as soon as possible. Rescheduling under these circumstances will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of Talk Spanish Now.

Our services are intended for individuals 18 years and older. By booking a lesson, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
